Aimed at advanced intermediate learners from German language high schools and/or learners who have taken GERM 402. Tailored to specific concentration areas of the students e.g. humanities, social sciences, physical sciences, law, international relations and business. Learners will be reading and discussing newspaper and magazine articles in these fields and will be enabled to interact in a German speaking business environment. Discussions with German speaking guest speakers from various fields will be held.

Multidisciplinary approach to the diagnosis of gastrointestinal diseases: Mechanisms of diseases, pathologic findings, clinical presentations, laboratory tests, diagnostic imaging and treatment. Topics include, esophageal diseases, gastritis, peptic ulcer, malabsorption, infectious enterocolitis, inflammatory bowel disease, tumors of the esophagus, stomach, small intestine and colon, jaundice, viral hepatitis, steatohepatitis, metabolic liver diseases, diseases of gall bladder and biliary tract, tumors of liver and biliary tract, pancreatitis and tumors of pancreas.

HEKL 404 / LEADERSHIP IN NURSING

Leadership and management principles, organizational theory, quality improvement, case management, critical pathways, health care finance. Students choose their clinical placement and work closely with a clinical nurse to provide care under the direction of a faculty advisor. Previous learning is synthesized as the student begins the role of the entry level practitioner. (Lecture and clinical)
