The strategy of retailing begins with an overview and highlights the key elements of competitive advantage. These elements are then introduced and discussed individually in each chapter to provide a 360-degree view into retailing. This is a doctoral seminar course focusing on behavioral foundations of marketing strategy research. Since marketing strategy is inherently interdisciplinary, the course acquaints students with theories emanating from economics, sociology, psychology, strategy, the organizational sciences, as well as marketing. Students will be introduced to a variety of research designs and techniques for doing marketing strategy research. We will examine research involving experiments, quasi-experiments, surveys, qualitative data, and secondary data. Some of the topics covered include: marketing capabilities and resources, financial returns to marketing strategies, market knowledge and learning, marketing and innovation, marketing networks. The goal is that students finish the course with a deep understanding of the literature as well as how they might contribute to it. Students write a research paper on a topic of interest.

Multidisciplinary approach to the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders. The students will have theoretical and practical training in the emergency departments, outpatient clinics, operating rooms and inpatient sections of the hospital dedicated to Orthopedics, Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, Rheumatology, Hand Surgery, Spine, Radiology and Algology. The program will include basic science topics related to clinical medicine; lectures, seminars, panels, clinical presentations, examination of laboratory tests, evaluation of pathologic findings and diagnostic imaging studies and related topics. The topics will cover musculoskeletal traumas, degenerative and metabolic diseases, developmental abnormalities of musculoskeletal system, sports medicine, infectious diseases of bone and joints, tumors of bones, cartilage and soft tissues, rheumatologic diseases, and pain management in musculoskeletal system.

NEUR 601 / BASIC SLEEP MEDICINE

The main purpose of this course is to provide a better understanding of sleep medicine and sleep disorders. The course will address the neurophysiological, cardiovascular, respiratory and endocrine mechanisms involved in sleep regulation as well as genetics of sleep and chronobiology. Instrumentation and methods such as polysomnography recordings and scoring of sleep stages will be presented. Students will be introduced to the multidisciplinary field of sleep medicine and be able to describe the main categories of sleep disorders including insomnia, narcolepsy, parasomnias and sleep-related breathing disorders. Initially, each participant will choose a scientific research paper relevant to the course content to review during the course period. These papers will be presented in the last session of the course and the paper work will be evaluated as part of the final grading.

The use of animal models provides significant information in the understanding of the physiology and pathophysiology of nervous system diseases and disorders in humans. The purpose of this course is to understand the depth of knowledge regarding the methodological principles and concepts in animal models. This course will give students an introduction to basic physiological, anatomical and histological characteristics of laboratory animals. On completion of this course, the students will be familiar with the animal models best suited to study human nervous system disease and disorders.
