The Department of Mathematics offers graduate courses leading to M.Sc., and eventually to Ph.D., degree in Mathematics. The Master of Science program aims to provide a sound foundation for the students who wish to pursue a research career in mathematics as well as other related areas. The department emphasizes both pure and applied mathematics. Research in the department covers algebra, number theory, combinatorics, differential equations, functional analysis, abstract harmonic analysis, mathematical physics, stochastic analysis, biomathematics and topology.

Admission Requirements
The applications of the candidates are received through the online system. Shortlisted candidates among those who have completed their applications will be interviewed. Graduate Program coordinators will send all the information about the proposed applicants to the program and types of scholarship proposed for each candidate by the deadline to the Graduate School. Prospective student evaluation proposals are evaluated by the Executive Committee of the Graduate School and forwarded to the Office of Vice President for Research and Development (VPRD). The Office of Vice President for Research and Development (VPRD) and the Directors of the Graduate Schools evaluate the candidates who have been evaluated and proposed by the Graduate School Executive Committees at a meeting and decide on possible changes.

CONDITIONS OF ACCEPTANCE:
In order to earn a M.Sc. degree all students must fulfill the following requirements.
• The students must complete at least 30 credits of course load including 2 compulsory courses namely Math 521 and Math 531, a graduation project and a non-credit seminar course.
• A course sequence (Math 504-506, Math 521-522, Math 531-532, Math 533-534 or Math 551-552) must be completed.
For admissions into the program the following requirements must be fulfilled.
Applicants from Outside of Koç Üniversity:
• To hold a BS degree in mathematics, basic sciences, engineering or a related field.
• To be assessed adequate for the program by a committee consisting of faculty members in mathematics; the students will be interviewed by the committee, additionally the students may be asked to complete a written exam.
• To receive a score from the ALES exam, not less than 60, and also above the threshold suggested by the program coordinator and approved by the academic committee at Koc University.
• To take one of the English proficiency exams below, and to receive the minimal score indicated by the table or higher.
– Internet Based TOEFL: Minimum Score 80 (Exams taken in Türkiye must be carried out at the State Universities.)
– YDS/e-YDS/YOKDIL: 80
Those Holding a BS Degree from the Department of Mathematics at Koç Üniversity:
• The average grade point of mathematics courses must be greater than 2.7.
• To receive a score of 60 at least from the ALES exam.
• To take one of the English proficiency exams below, and to receive the minimal score indicated by the table or higher.
– Internet Based TOEFL: Minimum Score 80 (Exams taken in Türkiye must be carried out at the State Universities.)
– YDS/e-YDS/YOKDIL: 80
Those Holding a BS Degree from Koç Üniversity Outside of the Department of Mathematics:
