TURK 300 / INTRODUCTION TO OTTOMAN TURKISH

This course aims to provide students with a reading and writing knowledge of Ottoman Turkish (in the Arabic script). By the end of this course, students will be able to read selected texts from the printed Turkish literary and historical sources of the 19th and early 20th centuries. (No prior knowledge of Ottoman Turkish is required.)

This course will provide the opportunity to be an effective speaker by intensive experience. Breathing exercises, impromptu and prepared speeches, articulation practices are a few methods to be used throughout the course. The course is offered in Turkish.
