This course is aimed at providing students with mathematical modeling skills for discrete optimization problems in operations management with an emphasis on facility location, distribution and collection logistics, and production planning. Students will learn about modeling logical relationships with binary decision variables, conversion of nonlinear constraints, use of valid inequalities, and bilevel optimization models. These models will be solved in software suites such as GAMS or OPL Studio or in a preferred programming language using the callable library of a suitable commercial solver.
