Topics include synthesis, metabolism and clinical effects of hormones, normal puberty and sexual differentiation, obesity, diseases and tumors of adrenal glands, thyroid glands, parathyroid glands and pituitary gland; endocrine pancreas and diabetes mellitus, diseases and tumors of kidney, dialysis and transplantation, urinary tract infection and obstructive uropathy, menstrual cycle, contraception, pregnancy, diseases and tumors of vulva, vagina, cervix, uterus and ovary; male infertility, sexually transmitted diseases, diseases and tumors of the breast.

This course aims to enable school of medicine students to develop effective and appropriate patient-centered consultation, learn ethical principles, develop professionalism and physical examination skills that are necessary for good clinical practice with learning sessions in small groups and short role-plays with both the instructor/s and their peers. The aim of this course is to facilitate learning and skills in the areas of reproductive health, safe motherhood, global and regional maternal mortality, the anatomy and physiology of the reproductive system, physical and psychological changes during pregnancy, prenatal care, psychosocial adaptation to pregnancy, the process and stage of delivery, pain control during delivery, conception and fetal development, postpartum adaptation and care, issues related to the care of the normal newborn, high-risk pregnancy, delivery, the postpartum process and the neonate.

This course provides a broad introduction to child abuse together with child neglect. In addition, the roles of families in child abuse and neglect will be covered along with active discussions on these topics. Other topics include discussions of investigations, reporting and treatment; as well as the nurses’ role in prevention and care of child abuse and neglect. Finally, students will be required to write projects on the overall knowledge gained on prevention of child abuse and neglect.

In this course, it is aimed for the student to provide care by using his/her evidence based knowledge, skills and attitudes in respect to solve the problems of healthcare, and to protect and promote the health of individuals, families and population. Within the scope of the course, the student is expected to provide healthcare based on holistic care model and use nursing process system in the practice sites determined according to the interest of the student (hospital, family health center, home care unit/center, etc.) and to practice the methods and techniques related to care and evidence based practices.
